Cave
Excursion--About 4 hours.
Pigadia--Petronas--By car it is approx-
imately 12
km. From Pigadia we travel towards the beautiful beach of Ahata,
which is around the area of Aperi. There we visit the cave of
stalactites and stalagmites.
Lastos Excursion--About 6 hours. Pigadia--Lastos--By
car approximately
18 km. From Pigadia we travel to Kali Limni, the highest mountain
top
on Karpathos. The view is absolutely breathtaking, with the
islands of
Kasos, Crete, Rhodes, Halki, and other small islands visible.
Agia
Larniotisa Excursion--About 3 hours. In the area of
Vargara near
The Olive Tree Retreat, on foot. We learn the history of how

Excursion--Half Day. This church is called "Spiliani"
(cave).
this is the name they've given this church of the Virgin Mary.

church was a hidden school during the Turkish occupation. It

been said that she got the name Spiliani because the icon was
found in
a nearby cave. The icon is very very old.
Prophet

Lukas Excursion--Half Day. The church of Saint Lukas
located in
the area of Apella north of Saint Nikolau bay has the most beautiful
Byzantine murals. His saint's day is October 18.
Metriotisa
Excursion--Half Day. This church is located in the
area
called Mertona. There is a natural spring here which in the
old days
supplied all the drinking water to Pigadia. The holiday for
this church
is on August 23.
